    Why It Matters

Most families are one event away from losing what they built

Without the proper structures in place your Estate can be hit harder than necessary by inheritance tax, care fees and family disputes.

    40%

Inheritance Tax on estates over the threshold

With IHT thresholds frozen until 2028 and rising property values, more London and Berkshire families than ever are now liable. Proper IHT planning can dramatically reduce or eliminate this liability.

    75%

Chance of needing an LPA by age 80

Without a Lasting Power of Attorney, your family cannot manage your finances or healthcare if you lose capacity. A Court of Protection application takes months and costs thousands, while an LPA costs a fraction of that.

    £200,000

Average residential care home fees in England

Over a typical 3–7 year stay, care fees can deplete an entire estate. Legal trust structures - fully compliant with UK law- can help your family preserve control, flexibility, and options.

All I can say with my experience of this whole company is that they make everything so clear and understandable when we all know this is a very difficult decision to make. The team was outstanding in guiding me through the whole of my will planning which has made this experience so so much easier especially when most of this is done on modern technology and I am not a technical person but they have had so much patience with helping me connect with this.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Your questions answered

How much does an LPA cost?

The LPA cost depends on the type and number of documents you need. There is a government registration fee of £92 per LPA (as of 2026), plus professional fees for preparation and guidance. Most people need both types - Property & Financial Affairs, and Health & Welfare - so two LPAs is the standard recommendation. Book a free consultation for a transparent, all-inclusive quote tailored to your circumstances.

What is Inheritance Tax planning and who needs it?

Inheritance Tax (IHT) is charged at 40% on the value of your estate above the nil- rate band (currently £325,000, frozen until 2031). If your estate includes property in London or Berkshire, you may well be over this threshold. IHT planning uses legal structures, including Trusts, gifting strategies, and Will provisions, to legitimately reduce your IHT liability. The earlier you plan, the more effective the strategies available to you.

What is a Lasting Power of Attorney and why do I need one?

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document that appoints someone you trust to manage your financial affairs and/or make healthcare decisions if you lose mental capacity. Without one, even your spouse cannot legally access your bank accounts or make decisions on your behalf; they would need to apply to the Court of Protection, which is a lengthy and expensive process. An LPA is far simpler and cheaper to set up now than to address later.

Can Trusts really limit the impact of care fees on my home?

You can structure your affairs properly to control the decision-making and impact of third-party charges. That means:

    • how your property is owned
    • how your estate is structured
    • what happens after you pass away

However, Trusts must be set up with the correct intention and at the right time; they cannot be used to deliberately deprive yourself of assets to avoid paying for care. We always advise on strategies that are 100% compliant with UK law. Book a free consultation to understand what's possible in your specific situation.

How long does estate planning take?

A typical estate plan, including a Will, Trust, and LPAs, is designed and prepared within 4–8 weeks from your initial consultation. LPAs require government registration, which can take 8–12 weeks once submitted. Wills and Trust documents are typically drafted and sent to you for review within a few weeks of your design meeting. We keep you informed at every stage.

Do I need to come to an office or can consultations be done remotely?

We prefer to meet in person and will come to see you at your home. Zoom consultations are also available and often used with additional or follow-up conversations. This makes the process simple and convenient, regardless of where in London, Greater London and the Southeast you are based. Many clients complete their entire estate plan without needing to visit an office.
